The plant
commenced operation in 1989 by producing Uniliver
varieties (under franchise) including Lux toilet soap,
Rexona in addition to the local Al-ahliah variety.
-
The plant moved
on to produce Colgate Palmolive varieties (under
franchise) in 1995 by producing Palmolive toilet soap,
Colgate toothpaste, Palmolive shaving cream, and
Palmolive shampoo.
-
Colagate
Plamolive stopped our production after the laws of the
Common Arab Market were enforced. However, they found
that production at their plant in Alexandria, Egypt, and
distribution in Egypt, Syria , Lebanon and Jordan are
more feasible for them than granting us any franchise.
We agreed together to terminate the contract of
franchise in April 2001.
-
In September
2001, we started producing Lotus toilet soap under
franchise from Georgia Pacific Inc. and we continued to
produce some other varieties of Al-ahliah toilet soap,
as well.
-
Our company
currently occupies about /24%/ of the total toilet soap
market in Syria although the provisions of laws relating
to the Common Arab Market have been introduced from such
states into the Syrian market.
-
Our products
meet the demand of all consumers’ segments in terms of
the selling prices starting from 10 cents per cake of
soap weighing 75g. up to 40 cents per cake weighing
125g. of Lotus brand.
