Al-ahliah Co. For Soap and Chemical Industries

 

-   Establishment of the plant commenced in 1986

     in Damascus suburbs - Hosh-Blass District.

 

-   The area of plant premises is / 6100 m2 /.

 

-   Operation and management of the plant are carried

    out by /60/ technicians, administrators, 

    technical and normal workers including /3/

    engineers, /3/ accounting and business

    administration staff.

 

-  The plant comprises the following production lines:

 

-  Automatic line of toilet soap production made by

    Mazzoni Co. (Italy) including the following 

    sections: ( desalinating and bleaching of crude oils,

    saponification unit, drying unit, finishing line in

    addition to six packing and packaging machines at

    production capacity of 1250kg./ per hour of ready

    packed and packaged soaps.

 

 

1-  Production line of toothpaste at production capacity of /70/ tubes/ per minute.

2-  Production line of shaving cream at production capacity of 35 tubes/ per minute.

3-  Production line of shampoo at production capacity of 1000 dins/ per shift.

4-  Production line of scouring paste of household vessels at production capacity of 2 tons/ per shift.

5-  Production line of scouring liquid of household vessels at production capacity of 2 tons/ per shift.

 

 

-         The plant commenced  operation in 1989 by producing Uniliver varieties (under franchise) including Lux toilet soap, Rexona in addition to the local Al-ahliah variety.

 

-         The plant moved on to produce Colgate Palmolive varieties (under franchise) in 1995 by producing Palmolive toilet soap, Colgate toothpaste, Palmolive shaving cream, and Palmolive shampoo.

 

-         Colagate Plamolive stopped our production after the laws of the Common Arab Market were enforced. However, they found that production at their plant in Alexandria, Egypt, and distribution in Egypt, Syria , Lebanon and Jordan are more feasible for them than granting us any franchise. We agreed together to terminate the contract of franchise in April 2001.

 

-         In September 2001, we started producing Lotus toilet soap under franchise from Georgia Pacific Inc. and we continued to produce some other varieties of Al-ahliah toilet soap, as well.

 

-         Our company currently occupies about /24%/ of the total toilet soap market in Syria although the provisions of laws relating to the Common Arab Market have been introduced from such states into the Syrian market.

 

-         Our products meet the demand of all consumers’ segments in terms of the selling prices starting from 10 cents per cake of soap weighing 75g. up to 40 cents per cake weighing 125g. of Lotus brand.
